Les lundispensables heureusement que c’est à la radio, sinon vous seriez forcés de nous voir à des périodes peu glorieuses de nos existences !
Cheveux longs, sale gueule, voix de merde, premières clopes, ça pue l’ado et ça se la joue rock’n’roll, bienvenus en 2004.
Josh Homme, représente pour moi à l’époque le dernier guerrier de la scène rock aux allures de bucheron cainri, une sorte de héros en chemise à carreaux. Alors quand 2 ans auparavant, en 2002, il demande au copain Dave Grohl de laisser les Foo Fighters le temps d’un album et de revenir taper comme un sourd sur sa batterie, en mode Nirvana… bon j’ai trouvé mes dieux quoi !
Ou plutôt mes reines, les Queens Of The Stone Age, ou QOTSA pour les intimes, deviennent mon groupe de référence, ma gifle à gros riffs, mon défouloir. Pourquoi ? No one knows.
QOTSA me fait sortir du potache MTV des groupes que j’écoute à l’époque, me fait oublier le métal fusionné à la sauce maladroite… Ici pas de fêlures, pas de chouineries ou de faux semblant, les mecs sont vrais et puent le rock. Rock qu’ils jouent avec classe, puissance et élégance.
Au milieu d’un délire road trip dans le désert imaginé et mis en Å“uvre par le duo Josh Homme/Nick Oliveiri, on évolue entre chansons d’amour…
Et ambiance malsaine salvatrice au possible auxquelles je dois quelques torticolis et mes plus beaux headbanding !
Et quand tu penses que la tempête s’est calmée que tout s’est adoucit…
un tube rageur, speed et violent revient te rappeler à l’ordre, tu es presque sourd et tu aimes ça. Les queens te montrent le chemin du rock’n’roll, du whisky et des clopes sans filtres, au milieu du désert tu suis le mouvement !
